Filming your dancing and teaching is a big part of our courses, and we want it to be safe and respectful for you and everyone in the room. This policy covers the space, consent, filming children and looking after your footage. Jackie and Jess

In short

  • Film in a safe, clear space and warm up first.
  • Get consent from everyone you film, and written consent from a parent or carer and the young person for anyone under 18.
  • Never film in changing areas.
  • Upload through your task page, then delete the footage from your device.

Your space

Film in a safe, clear dance space. Check the floor, exits and lighting first, and keep cables and tripods out of walkways. Warm up properly before filming dancing, and never attempt moves beyond your level for the camera.

  • Everyone you film must agree.
  • For under-18s, you need written consent from a parent or carer and from the young person, before you film.
  • Use our consent form. Keep the signed forms yourself, and don't upload them.

Filming children

Only film children in your normal teaching setting, with the setting's permission, never in changing areas, and only what's needed for the task.

Your footage

Upload your films through your task page. They go straight from your browser to Bunny Stream (BunnyWay d.o.o., Slovenia), stored in Frankfurt, Germany, with a copy in London, not to our website hosting. Please don't put assessment films on YouTube or social media. Once your upload is confirmed, delete the footage from your phone or camera. Say your name and the date at the start of each film, so we know it's you.

Insurance

You need public liability insurance that covers you as a dance teacher for the age group and setting you film.

If anything goes wrong while filming, deal with it as you would in any class (first aid, incident record), and tell us if it affects your assessment (see Special consideration).
