Assessment
Last updated 15 October 2026 · Version 1.0 · Reading time about 2 minutes
You should always know what you're being marked on and why. This policy explains how your work is assessed, what feedback to expect and when, and what we ask of you in return. No surprises, just clear criteria and helpful feedback. Jackie and Jess
In short
- Every task has a "How it's marked" table, marked Pass or Not yet.
- Feedback within 10 working days (15 for the capstone).
- Not yet? You'll be told exactly what to add, and you can resubmit.
- Knowledge checks need 80%. The final check gives two attempts, then feedback and a third.
How we assess
- Each course has learning outcomes and assessment criteria, published in the course summary.
- Every portfolio task has a "How it's marked" table. Each row matches one criterion and is marked Pass or Not yet.
- Practical skills are assessed through direct observation: on film, or by an approved observer where the course allows it.
- Knowledge checks need 80%. The final knowledge check gives two attempts. If neither passes, your assessor gives you feedback and then opens a third.
- Assessors are qualified and experienced in the style they assess.
What you can expect
- Written feedback within 10 working days for tasks, and 15 working days for the capstone.
- Feedback that says which rows are Pass, and exactly what to add for any row that is Not yet.
- The chance to resubmit until every row is Pass.
- Your work judged only against the marking table, never against other learners.
What we expect
Your own work (see Your work, your words: authenticity and AI), consent for everyone you film (see Filming safely) and a declaration ticked on each upload.
