Quality assurance
Last updated 15 October 2026 · Version 1.0 · Reading time about 1 minute
We check our own marking so that every learner is judged to the same standard, whoever their assessor is. This policy explains how that checking works and what it means for you. Jackie and Jess
In short
- A different, qualified person checks a sample of every assessor's marking.
- Nobody checks their own marking or their own learners.
- If a check changes your result, we tell you.
What we do
- A sampling plan covers every assessor and every task. New assessors are sampled more often, and capstones, appeals and adjustments are always sampled.
- Assessors meet every quarter to mark the same work and agree the standard.
- We keep a record of every sample, with feedback to the assessor.
- Where a course has an external quality assurer, they review our assessment and quality assurance at least once a year.
If a quality assurer disagrees with a decision, the work is reassessed and you're told if your result changes.
