Certificates only mean something if everyone plays fair, us included. This policy explains what counts as malpractice (breaking the rules) and maladministration (our mistakes), how we look into concerns, and how you'll be treated if something is raised about your work. You'll always be heard before any decision is made. Jackie and Jess

In short

  • Malpractice is anything that breaks the assessment rules. Maladministration is a mistake in how we run assessment.
  • If we have a concern, we tell you and ask for your side first.
  • Someone who didn't mark the work decides, and tells you the outcome in writing.
  • You can report a concern about us in confidence.

What counts

Malpractice is anything that breaks the rules of assessment or puts the trustworthiness of a certificate at risk. Maladministration is a mistake in how we run assessment, for example a lost upload or a wrong record. Both can come from learners or from our own team.

Examples of learner malpractice:

  • copying, or handing in someone else's work, including AI-generated work, as your own
  • using a film of someone else, or an edited film presented as continuous
  • a false declaration, including about consent
  • sharing other learners' work or assessment materials
  • faking evidence, an observer's signature or a group

What happens if we have a concern

  1. We tell you what we're concerned about and ask for your side, in writing, within 10 working days.
  2. Someone who didn't mark the work looks at the evidence and your reply.
  3. The possible outcomes are:
  4. no further action
  5. a warning
  6. the task marked Not yet, with the work redone
  7. the course stopped without a certificate
  8. a certificate withdrawn
  9. We tell you the outcome and the reasons in writing, usually within 15 working days of your reply. You can appeal (see Appeals).

Our side

Assessors and quality assurers declare conflicts of interest and never mark or check work by people they know personally. Our team is trained in this policy every year. You can report a concern about us, in confidence, to [email protected].
